The Rarity College of the Arts, or Rarity for short, is a liberal arts institution in Ponyville, California. It is the smallest school in the Pony Conference, and the most conservative, with all of the US-based students and faculty voting Republican.
As a liberal arts school, Rarity is known for its music, theater arts and fashion design programs. Many aspiring young chefs go to Rarity for the culinary arts program, which includes among its faculty a list of former celebrity chefs.
The architecture of this campus includes plenty of diamonds, emeralds and other jewelry. The bookstore is known as the carousel boutique and sells designer wear along with textbooks and other course-related material. Rarity is the most-expensive of the WAC schools in terms of tuition and one of the most selective universities in the conference.
Rarity's football team, run by the founder's younger sister Sweetie Belle, runs a Pro style offense similar to Stanford's, allowing liberty for the quarterback to make smart decisions and develop the skills required to be a competitent field general at the professional level. The defense is one of the more conservative, with a lot of coverage involved.
Rarity's main rival is Fluttershy College. Both teams battle for the Monarch. Rarity also has a rivalry with Twilight Sparkle University. Both teams fight for the Celestia Trophy, a bronze quarter-life-size replica of Princess Celestia of Canterlot.
