Twilight Sparkle University is a private four-year university based out of Ponyville, California. Founded by Twilight Sparkle, the current university president, Twilie is the largest of the schools in the reformed PonyCon in terms of enrollment, with 15,000 strong. It is the most popular university in Ponyville and attracts students from 210 different countries. It is also the only university in the PonyCon that receives funding from the City of Canterlot, located 200 kilometers to the northwest of Ponyville.
The university is considered as the Ivy League of the PonyCon, with its buildings covered in ivy and its professors having taught at Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Penn, Brown, McGill, the University of Tokyo and many other internationally renowned schools of learning.
The academics are very rigorous and are equivalent to that of a master's-level education, with all students required to present a thesis or dissertation. Master's students are required to provide two dissertations as part of their study.
As the most comprehensive school in the conference, any form of study that is seen at Harvard can be seen at Twilie. The university's mathematics and science programs are highly renowned. Other notable programs include the College of Business Administration, the College of Nursing, Twilight Law School and Twilight Medical School.
The emphasis on academics means that not a lot of funding is spent on athletics, although the school has a remarkable athletics program. Twilie's field hockey, women's volleyball and women's lacrosse teams are nationally known and respected.
The first football team, run by former mailpony Derpy Hooves, uses a Run Balanced offense, with a lot of involvement from the fullbacks and halfbacks. The passing game is essentially a change-up, as the offense focuses on speed, technique and execution. Currently, M.A. Larson is the coach and his offense is more of a run-and-shoot style. The multiple defense is balanced, with the run and pass defense earning equal priority.
Twilight Sparkle's main rival is Applejack, as both teams battle for the Big Wooden Apple. Twilie contests the Celestia Trophy with Rarity College and the Friendship Cup with Pinkie Pie.
