The M.A. Larson era at Twilight Sparkle University got off to a flying start as the Unicorns stormed past the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 115-12, at Armor-Cadance Field at Twilight Stadium. The Unicorns generated 1028 yards of total offense, spearheaded by a healthy balance of passing and running. Coach Larson himself was impressed by the output of the team.

"This may be our best team yet," Coach Larson quipped at the end of the game. "What the fans saw is a taste of what's to come. We plan to come at you hard and fast. We like to score in bunches, and against a really good Notre Dame team, we make it difficult for the Irish. So expect more from the Unis this season. We're just getting started." Afterwards, Coach Larson returned to his personal dorm on campus, where the founder awaited him

With starter Marcus Bentley going down to injury, quarterback Eric Chase filled in, passing for 531 yards and six touchdowns while rushing for 290 yards and five more scores. Halfback Jono Kent ran for 186 yards and five majors, while wide receiver Glenn Collins caught seven passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Unicorns.

"It's tough for Marcus because he's a proven winner, a fighter and someone that wanted to finish his career on the right track," Chase said after the game. "But we all know that when the times comes, you have to step up, and that's what I did when I was given the call to pick up the pieces. Our offense did well, our defense did their job, and we can get ready for next week."

Wide receiver D.J. Pretorius led the blockers with 21 pancakes. Right end Troy Nguyen was a workhorse on defense, racking up 17 tackles and 12 sacks on the day.

Twilie improve to 1-0 and will hit the road next week to face the Ohio State Buckeyes.
