In the pouring rain at Armor-Cadance Field at Twilight Stadium, M.A. Larson's Twilight Sparkle Unicorns delivered a massive spanking to the Oklahoma Sooners, 102-17. Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Frank Whitworth threw for 596 yards and five touchdowns and ran for 184 yards and three more scores,
Halfback Eric Love ran for 161 yards and three touchdowns, wide receiver Derrick Randolph caught 12 passes for 231 yards and four scores, wideout John Bennett had 14 catches for 136 yards and wideout Anthony Mitchell had nine catches for 103 yards. Mitchell led the team in blocking with 27 pancakes while Randolph added 24.
Left end Mike Collier was a beast on defense with 12 tackles and six sacks. Middle linebacker Michael Henderson led the team in tackling with 17 tackles and a sack for a safety. Cornerback Gabriel Morrison had seven tackles and four interceptions and fellow cornerback Shaun Carroll had seven tackles and two picks.
"What a game defensively by the crew," said Coach Larson after the game. "We came out very aggressive and it paid off. Frank really showed his promise as the next great NFL quarterback to come out of Twilie. He's been improving on his throws but he needs to work a little bit on hitting the target in the red zone because I wasn't too happy about the pick.
"But other than that, no complaints from me. We'll catch our breath and get ready for Clemson next week."
Twilight Sparkle improve to 1-0.
