Twilight Sparkle won the 2012 Western Athletic Conference title, but they had to hold off a late rally from Rarity to maintain the victory. Meanwhile, Applejack State got the better of Rainbow Dash, while Fluttershy dealt Pinkie Pie some last-second heartbreak.
Fluttershy 80, Pinkie Pie 73
A last-second touchdown pass by Fluttershy quarterback Carl Porter was enough for the Spirit to defeat the Pinkie Pie Major Trouble. One final desperation heave by Pinkie was picked off, preserving the victory.
The defeat all but seals Pinkie Pie's fate in terms of making it to a bowl as they drop to 7-4 (1-4 WAC). Fluttershy improve to 9-3 (2-3 WAC).
Applejack State 85, Rainbow Dash 63
Henry Clay had a game-high 17 tackles to lead the Applejack State Appleknockers to a big-time victory over the Rainbow Dash Rainbows at Rainbow Park. Dashie QB John Paul Jones passed for 526 yards and four touchdowns in the loss.
Both Applejack and Rainbow Dash finish the regular season at 9-2 (2-3 WAC).
Twilight Sparkle 98, Rarity 56
The No. 1-ranked Unicorns will be playing in the BCS National Championship Game after holding off a late rally from Rarity at Armor-Cadence Field at Twilight Stadium. A balanced rushing attack, combined with some timely picks, led to a first-quarter explosion that the Royals could not recover from in time.
Twilie improve to 12-0 (5-0 WAC) while Rarity drop to 10-2 (3-2 WAC).
